Statement by SAKAI –
“candy box”
There is a certain color tone that comes to mind as winter approaches. Candy and chocolate wrappers. A hand full of poppers.Ornaments decorating Christmas trees. Neon signs fluttering in the cold sky. The outlines of these works are vague, but they are motifs of scenes that fascinated me as a child, and they are decorated with colors and patterns.
The cutlery and trays on display are decorated with colors and patterns. We hope that each item we have created will become a memory of the season.
From THE STABLES –
When you touch Mr. Sakai’s works, you realize that they are born from wood itself, as if it were a matter of course,
It is as if they resonate with the wood. His work seems to resonate with the wood,It is not just a matter of usability as a tool. The work of Sajiya and Sho Bok Si crosses the line between figurative and abstract. Both the line and the work are very typical of Mr. Sakai. This is the first solo exhibition in THE STABLES. Please come and see it.
