In July, Yoshihiro Nanao and Utako Nanao will hold a duo exhibition.
Yoshihiro’s work has not been introduced for three years and
Utako’s work is being introduced for the first time at our shop.
Their works are like a rock band session when placed side by side.
Individualities sometimes harmonise and sometimes intermingle.
We hope you will be able to enjoy this kind of situation at the exhibition.
Profile
Yoshihiro Nanao
Born in Hakodate, Hokkaido. Studied under Masaaki Shibata in Tanba Sasayama, Hyogo, Japan, opened his own kiln in 1995 in Atsusawabe, Hokkaido, Japan, and was selected for the National Exhibition in 1999.
In 2015, he was awarded the Excellent Work Prize and the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Prize at the Japan Ceramic Art Exhibition. In the same year, the kiln was moved to Kinomoto, Nagahama, Shiga.
Utako Nanao
Born in Takatsuki, Osaka. Studied under Ishida Toshun in Sasayama, Tanba, Japan; opened her own kiln in 1995 in Atsusawabe, Hokkaido; moved to Kinomoto, Nagahama, Shiga, in 2015.

On the evening of 19 July, the first day of the exhibition, the couple will meet at Bistro Pommeris in Hirosaki
to hear about their daily work and meet their maker. Pommeris Kota Imai’s cuisine and carefully selected natural wines
Yoshihiro and Utako Nanao’s tableware.
